As we teased last week, we have been gearing for a launch today and that launch is SecureDoc 6.2. Now, it may not seem like a significant step from 6.1 to 6.2, but it’s more than just what’s in the latest edition of our data encryption and security solution.
With the introduction of SecureDoc 6.2 there are number of key elements that fall into place on a much larger scale for existing and potential customers. But first, let’s look at what’s improved in SecureDoc 6.2:
- Windows 8 support – we’ve vastly expanded our support for Windows 8 with the addition of PBConnex support in the UEFI environment as well as an onscreen keyboard support for Windows 8 Pro-based Tablets
- Mac OS X – we’ve ensured continued support in SecureDoc for Mac with compatibility for OS X 10.8.3 and 10.8.4. Additionally we’ve significantly improved our FileVault 2 management capabilities in SecureDoc Enterprise Server and added Removable Media Encryption (RME) and Removable Media Container Encryption (RMCE) options for users
- Pre-boot improvements – We’ve added support for 802.1x in Windows clients and a host of other improvements.
- Intel Anti-Theft 5.0 Support
- SecureDoc Enterprise Server (SES) Improvements – we’ve added a number of functionality improvements to give administrators role-based access controls, the ability to drag and drop devices/users/groups and more
- File & Folder Encryption (FFE) enhancements
Most importantly, we’ve added support for a large number of products from Hewlett-Packard. As previously mentioned, all new 2013 HP Business Laptops and Desktops now ship with HP Drive Encryption powered by WinMagic’s SecureDoc. With SecureDoc 6.2, all these devices and older HP systems can be seamlessly upgraded from a standalone encrypted device to a centrally-managed device with SecureDoc for HP and SecureDoc 6.2.
This means that HP customers buying business laptops and desktops can upgrade directly to SecureDoc for HP and buy their upgrade directly from HP and their authorized reseller partners. Alternately, existing customers using HP hardware or about to procure HP hardware can rest assured that this hardware is fully supported and compatible with SecureDoc.
Lastly, we’ve also re-vamped our service and support by adding a new tier – basic for standalone users – and updating and adding more value to the other tiers – standard and premium. You can find out more on our support page and in our new support brochure.
