In today’s world a large amount of transactions are made online, and companies need to focus on securing their customer’s personal information. Even though encrypted web pages may be used, which are developed to prevent third parties from accessing customer data, there are still some sites that are not fully secure.
According to Ghostery, the industries with the most non-secure websites are retail, banking, insurance, publishing and air travel, with a special focus on retail. Retail has the highest volume of non-secure tags on encrypted sites, Yikes! To put this in more perspective, 96% out of the 50 encrypted web pages examined by Ghostery had a security blind spot due to the presence of non-secure code. This oversight can expose a company to a data breach, which can severely hurt their brand. We, at WinMagic are concerned.
Watch for more focus on security in the retail sector over the next month!
